Clinging ...

I mentioned in an earlier post that our cat had kittens, well... as it turns out, two of our cats actually had kittens, within a 10 day period. So we have an abundance of kittens right now. Want one or two?? Anyway... tonight as I tried to sit in the living room floor and organize my neglected coupons... this is what happened. I couldn't even turn one page without another kitten finding its way onto my lap.... OR on top of my shoulders. I would put them back onto the floor... and they would climb right back up. They were very persistent. They couldn't be turned away.

I thought of Romans 12:9... it tells us to hate what is evil; and to cling to what is good. God is good. He is what we need to cling to. In the best of times... it is Him that we need to cling to. In the dark, difficult times... it is Him that we need to cling to.

When things are going great... I tend to loose my grip a little on the Lord. I mean... I don't "cling" to him with my claws digging in quite like I do when things are rough and rocky. It is not something that I intentionally do... but I relax a little. Just what the enemy wants me to do. I want to remember to cling to Him... like these kittens were clinging to me. I want to be so persistent that it is impossible for me to be moved. Impossible for me to be shaken.

The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 62:1
"He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Big words. I want to cling to the Lord so tightly... that I too, can say that I will never be shaken.

Something in my Bible study last week really spoke a reminder to me. It came from Leviticus 24. The Lord is telling Moses what needs to be done in the tabernacle with the lampstand. He says that Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening til morning, continually. "Tend to". I got to thinking about my spiritual life... I need to "tend" to it continually. To pay close attention. The dictionary says it means to look after and take care of. That is what it takes to cling to the Lord. I need to be tending to my spiritual life... paying close attention to the Lord. Clinging to Him. That way... I cannot be shaken. That is exactly what I want.

You are exactly right that we must always tend to our spiritual walk with the Lord. I think we are all guilty of not clinging quite so hard in the "good" times. I know that my lack of clinging over the last couple eyars got me into HUGE trouble spiritually and thus I am where I am now...though spiritually growing and clinging to God, I'm still in the midst of ever so deep heart ache and pain from the worst trial of my life.

So, yes, cling, cling, cling. Cling just like that cling wrap does on our bowls....or rather is suppose to...(I've never found any to work.) haha
Blessings,
Paula

Yeah that is all I want to do in my life is cling, cling, cling to Him and let Him take me where He wants me. I just need to make sure I'm clinging and not just passing through.

That picture is too precious! Your comfortable look is my normal look! Love it.

I'm tending to many things these days, but the tending to my spiritual life is the most sacred tend I can put my will toward.

Standing alongside you for our Father's kingdom purposes. Be blessed this week, and if you ever need to e-mail, I'm a click away.

Oh my goodness...that is a lot of kittens to "tend" to!! I have come to value tending to my faith, my daily spiritual walk. Like my roses, if they get neglected, they will not survive...the same with my heart for God if I don't tend to it!!

Blessings Friend!

I like that discription... to tend to, to take care of our spiritual lives. Thinking of it that way helps me to realize, and to just be ok with that some people won't understand some things about me. And that's just fine! God does! And I'm clinging to Him. Good thoughts... love it!

LOVE the kittens! How fun! Blessings to you and yours!!!

I'm back . . . . . from Disney.

And all I can say is. . . "was that a vacation?"

We were so busy it was hard to tell. We had a great time, but that was exhausting. Clinging was not something I did very well at Disney. I have to say that I am more accustomed to a laid back, do nothing kind of vacation. I got behind on my bible study, and rest was not on the agenda. But you know what. . . He was there with us the whole time. And I even had some precious teachable moments with my little ones that I am praying will take root in their lives.

It's good to be home, can't wait to get back in the swing of clinging. See you Tuesday!!

My goodness, what a difference a week makes. Love the new look of your blog. My son was ahhhing all over the place looking at your picture of the kittens. How adorable.

I agree completely with what you said. Something that was reiterated to me this weekend was how I need to cling even harder to God's Word than ever before.

Kay Arthur spoke this weekend about having discernment and that it is not the ability to tell right from wrong but the ability to tell right from almost right. The only way to do that is to have God's Truth hidden in our hearts and minds.

Anyway, thanks for the good word.
Blessings.

Oh, I love that image...clinging! You are so right -- we tend not to cling tightly when all is well, but how we need to more than ever then!

The kittens are precious...love this photo! You are adorable.

Clingin' to the King!

Great Post...I have been so guilty, too of not clinging like I should. I love Amanda's words, too (she seems to be so much like me)...I am coming to understand that even those closest to me may not understand me or my passion for the Lord...but that's okay...I'll just cling tighter to Him and He will provide all my spiritual, emotional, and all other needs.

That is a whole bunch of felines ya got there!

I was just thinking about this yesterday....when things are going well I am less likely to 'cling' to the Lord. I cannot figure out why I am so quick to let go when I know that satan is waiting to attack.

I needed to hear this today - thanks!

That is a great observation!
I am a visual learner, so I love the thought of clinging to God and His Word just like the kittens clinging to you. And I know that kittens cling with all of their might....What an awesome thing God revealed to you with those kittens!

God Bless,
Amy:)
